His Dark Materials: Special edition

Everyman has a reputation for producing lovely hardback editions of the classics.  Some might say the Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials is a bit recent to be called a classic, but there is no doubting that it is a very high quality series.  Everyman has published the three books in the trilogy in one volume and it looks terrific.  At $35 it is also great value.

A Christmas Wombat story

We have all loved the wombat stories from Jackie French and illustrated by Bruce Whatley over the years.  They are funny, warm and a favourite with children and adults.  This year we have Christmas Wombat, where we follow the families  adventures during the Christmas festivities. Another winner.  While stocks last we have a small plush wombat to go with the book.  Limited stock so don’t leave it too late as we can’t get any more of the toys. The book is a hardback and costs $25

Sticky Mosaics: some crafty fun for boys and girls

Sticky Mosaics are fun and easy and will keep kids completely absorbed! They just match the coloured tiles to the numbers on the design to form a mosaic picture which can then be hung on the wall. There are designs to suit both boys and girls – we have Fairy, Mermaid, Robot, T-Rex and Pirate available. A great stocking filler, and something to be kept in mind when preparing for the long summer holiday ahead! Recommended for 4+, $9.95 each

Any time you buy a gift such as a book you encounter the enduring problem of what if

they already have it? I am here with a solution to all your problems. Go classic.

Just in stock are beautiful cloth bound editions of some of our favourite titles. Introduce a teenager you know to the enduring wonders of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice or whisk them away to Wonderland with Alice’s Adventures (and Through the Looking Glass, in one volume). Even if they’ve read it, or got it, a hardback edition of a classic is never out of place on ones bookshelf. Also available in this lovely binding is a personal favourite, Jane Eyre, which I’ve obviously read, and loved, and recently been given as a gift. My battered orange penguin edition than I carried around South East Asia with me just doesn’t compare with my new copy! All $19.95, other titles also available.
