His Dark Materials: Special edition

Everyman has a reputation for producing lovely hardback editions of the classics.  Some might say the Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials is a bit recent to be called a classic, but there is no doubting that it is a very high quality series.  Everyman has published the three books in the trilogy in one volume and it looks terrific.  At $35 it is also great value.

A Christmas Wombat story

We have all loved the wombat stories from Jackie French and illustrated by Bruce Whatley over the years.  They are funny, warm and a favourite with children and adults.  This year we have Christmas Wombat, where we follow the families  adventures during the Christmas festivities. Are We There Yet? by Alison Lester is an old favourite at Fairfield Books and has really become an Australian classic. It tells the story of a family’s trip around Australia and all the amazing things they see and wonderful adventures they have along the way.
