Why the Animals Came to Town

Michael Foreman has a very distinctive, soft style in his illustrations. His animals are large and exuberant and I really like them, especially his elephants, but then I love most pictures of elephants, so perhaps I’m easily pleased with them! The story is a simple one in beautiful rhyming verse that makes for perfect bedtime reading. But the gathering animals are also delivering a serious message about their disappearing homelands, giving this fun picture book a little something extra.

Why the Animals Came to Town by Michael Foreman (PB $17.95) is available instore now.
