Beatle Meets Destiny

Beatle Meets Destiny

by Gabrielle Williams, PB $19.95

This quirky young adult fiction from local Melbourne author Gabrielle Williams is a perfect summer read.

Set around the suburbs of St Kilda and Kew, ‘Beatle Meets Destiny’ is a story about the lives of John Lennon (his parents were obsessed with the Beatles!), Destiny McCartney and some very bad timing. Told from each teenagers perspective, it is both funny and heartwarming. The struggles of young adulthood; senior school, family and relationships are all dealt with in an entertaining yet real manner.

Williams honest style of writing makes it easy to identify with and it’s great to be able to recognise the local places she writes about. Beatle and Destiny are intelligent and complex, not the often superficial teenage characters. If you enjoy books like  ‘Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist’ or ‘Good Oil’  then this is a must read!!!
